Plant a Seed, Read and Sing Summer Reading Program

I am gearing up for my Summer Reading Program tour in Louisiana and Massachusetts! I will be performing “Plant a Seed, Read and Sing.” Twenty years ago, I planted a seed of an idea for a singable book about seven foods for Louisiana children. That book, Today is Monday in Louisiana, blossomed into a fan-favorite read and sing along story. This summer, I will be singing this book and several of my singable stories such as Chef Creole, Who Got the Baby in the King Cake, How to Dress a Po’ Boy, Down in Louisiana and more in my delicious concert for children at the following libraries:

June 3 - St. James Parish Libraries, at 10:00 in Vacherie and 2:00 at Lutcher, LA

June 4 - Terrebonne Parish Library at 10:00 in Houma, LA

June 17 - St. Charles Parish Library at 2:00 in Luling and 6:00 in Destrehan, LA

June 22 - Shreve Memorial Parish Libraries at 9:30 at Epic Learning Center and 2:00 in Hosston

June 23 - Shreve Memorial Parish LIbraries at 10:30 at N Shreveport and 3:00 Blanchard

June 24 - Shreve Memorial Parish Libraries at 11:00 in Cedar Grove and at 4:30 in Broadmoor

June 26 - LaSalle Parish Libraries at 10:00 in Jena and 2 in Olla, LA

August 4 - Nantucket Atheneum at 9:45 in Nantucket, MA

August 5 - Ukulele Workshop for Teens and Adults - Nantucket Atheneum at 9:45 in Nantucket, MA

2026 Children's Concert Series Moves to Fridays!

My free concert series at the New Orleans Jazz National Historical Park Visitor’s Center is moving back to the first Friday of each month in 2026!! Mark your calendars!

Children's Concert Series at New Orleans Jazz Park Visitor's Center Continues

I will be closing out the year of concert series and the New Orleans Jazz Park on December 4 at 11:00, and starting a new season on Friday, January 3rd! We will be back to our Friday dates each month which makes it easier for school field trips and families! Let’s do this!

New Orleans Jazz & Heritage Festival Concert!

We are thrilled to announce that we are performing in the Kids Tent at the New Orleans Jazz & Heritage Festival on Sunday, May 4, 2025 from 2:45-3:35 PM. This Louisiana roots music concert for children and their families introduces children to the rich musician heritage of New Orleans and across the Bayou State. It’s a romp in the swamp you won’t want to miss. Tickets available at jazzfest.com. New Orleans Fairgounds.

Boo Carre Halloween Haunt

Johnette will be giving her Jumpin’ Jitters, It’s Halloween concert for little ones at the Boo Carre Halloween Haunt in Dutch Alley outdoor Performance Pavilion in the French Quarter, LA. Dress in costume and go trick-or-treating at select area shops after the concert.
